Recent cute things done by Isaac and/or in his vicinity.

1. When the leaves started falling a few weeks ago I introduced Isaac to the joys of walking through piles of leaves on the street and hearing/feeling them crunch underfoot. He REALLY enjoyed this. Now, when we walk down the street, if he sees even just a single leaf on the ground, he has to go over and step on it. LOL :)

2. Isaac's newest pastime is playing on the waterbed, which is great because he's learning about balance and how to remain calm and balanced when the surface you're on is unstable. So his game is to stand up on the bed, make sure he has his balance, and then throw himself forward onto the bed on his face, giggling insanely the whole time. It is SO freaking cute. :) I took some pictures which I shall post soon.

3. Isaac's daycare people have been taking him into the toddler room to spend some time each day in preparation for his transition there. Yesterday when I arrived to pick him up, he was in the toddler room. So I went in there, and he saw me and said "mama" but then as he sometimes does, he started walking away from me and pretending not to notice me. (Some books suggest that this behavior happens because seeing mama is such a strongly emotional thing for the child that he can't handle it and has to "disengage.") So he was walking away and one of the older toddlers said to him, "that's your mommy!" like she was worried that he hadn't realized. Hee hee!

4. The other day we were in the grocery store and they had helium balloons tied to some of the displays. Isaac was fascinated by one with a Red Sox logo (that's my boy!) so my mom picked him up to get a closer look. But when she pulled on the balloon's string to make it come closer, he FREAKED out! He got all scared and clutched grandma's shoulder like a lifeline. Every time she would let the balloon go back up to the end of its string he calmed down, and if she pulled it closer again he got scared again. It was weird. Later, we were wandering the aisles and he caught sight of the same balloon again and made a beeline for it, trying to say its name, so I picked him up to look at it again, and I pulled the string, and the same thing happened! He was grabbing me and almost shaking in his fear. It was really bizarre. Why is my child simultaneously terrified of and fascinated by balloons? :)

Vocab-wise, Isaac continues to add more words, and he's finally starting to say both syllables of some two-syllable words. "Cracker" used to be "ca" but now is "ca-ca." And "bubbles" are "buh-buh" which is sometimes mistakeable for "bye-bye" except that he usually points frantically at the bottle of bubble-stuff while saying it. :) He's also starting to put the ending consonants on some words. His newest word is "bus" and he gets all excited when we're driving and we pass a bus. He'll keep saying "bus" for the next five minutes even though the bus is long since out of sight. :) He also likes to play with his toy bus, of course. He's working on the word "truck" ("duh"). Of course, his current favorite word is "more," which not only means more/again but also "I'm hungry." He can find the box of crackers no matter where it is, and bring it to me saying "more!" I always say, "You can't have more, you didn't have any yet," but that's a very sophisticated concept for him right now. ;)

So that's the Isaac cuteness update for the moment. New pictures coming soon.

"duh" is such a good word for "truck". Roo, unfortunately, says "truck", only instead of the "tr", she uses "f". ;)
