woohoo, or possibly bleah
Oct. 20th, 2004 11:49 amAnother bleary-eyed, half-asleep-at-work day for Red Sox Nation. Of course we're thrilled by how well the boys are doing, but man, how many more of these late nights can we stand? It doesn't help that FOX insists the games start at 8pm -- during the regular season they start at 7, so they have a better chance of ending at a somewhat-reasonable hour. Last night's game was short for this series, and it still didn't end till past midnight! Urgh.
The Boston Globe's Health section actually did an article recently about "Red Sox fever" and what an actual serious issue it is, not just a silly phrase that people toss around. I mean, it's not just that you're tired at work from having stayed up to watch the game. The whole situation really affects your entire day. You're excited and anxious, you can't concentrate on stuff, you keep thinking about tonight's game and rehashing yesterday's game. It's almost like some kind of hyperactivity disorder or something (LOL!).
But anyway, things chug along. I dressed Isaac in his Red Sox onesie for today, although it's covered up with pants and a sweater, so no one will see it except his daycare teachers when they change his diaper. I also put red socks on his little feet. :) I would have put red socks on my own feet, except I don't think I have any. I'm going to check my sock drawer tonight before the game. Yes, superstition is strong here in Red Sox Nation.
(Isaac's latest word is sock -- "ka" because he can't figure out the opening sibilant. It's too cute. He likes to play with them and carry them around. The other night I got some funny pix of him with gramma's socks on his hands and on his head.)
(Speaking of red socks, though, I could do without all the media focus on Curt Schilling's red (i.e., bloody(ew)) sock. It's bad enough they showed the closeup of it like a thousand times during last night's game, but today there is actual poetry devoted to it at boston.com, and you can click to make the bloody sock your computer desktop wallpaper!! Dude, that's going a little tooooo far even for me. (Don't believe me? click to see for yourself.))
I think that's quite enough parentheses for one post, don't you,
tiggrrl?
