The other night I had a dream in which -- brace yourself, this is lame -- I decided to "pamper" myself by buying a new, high-quality, well-fitting pair of jeans for the upcoming winter. In the dream, for some bizarre reason I decided that the jeans must be from Old Navy, so I was preparing to go there and buy them, only I never actually did because I remembered that I had a coupon and spent the rest of the dream trying to find it.

Hey, I told you it was lame.

(I used to dream about having sex with Elvis, for heaven's sake!! When did even my dreams get boring? Argh!)

Anyway, the concept itself isn't actually lame, and I am in fact planning to buy myself a pair or two of jeans, and probably a pair or two of regular pants as well. It's all part of the process of accepting the fact that I have Mom Body and will probably never fit into my old jeans again. At least, not without a lot of effort put into losing this tummy; and since the time and energy to make that effort don't seem to be forthcoming, it isn't likely to happen. Plus I keep thinking, "I'm just going to have another baby and get fat again, so why bother?" Which I know is stupid logic, but nevertheless.

So I was going to order some jeans online from Land's End, because they're on sale and what the hell. I don't normally like to order clothing online without being sure of my size, but when am I ever going to get into an actual store? And you can always return it. I honestly have no idea what size I am now. I was going to order the jeans in size 16, on the theory that before I got pregnant I was wearing 12s and some 14s so I should go up one more size, but then I thought, what if the 16s are too small? So I was going to order 18s. But then I thought, if I'm getting "relaxed fit" and 18 is a little too big, then 18-relaxed would be a lot too big. I like my jeans loose, but not TOO loose. So I wound up not ordering anything yet. *g* Maybe I'll bite the bullet later today. Or maybe I'll put it off till the weekend and see if I can get to an actual store. Not Old Navy, though. I'm boycotting them on general principle because their TV ads are so fucking annoying.

Land's End website used to have this feature to size you based on measurements you gave it. No idea if it's still there or not, but definitely worth a look. :)

Yeah, they still have it, but it would require me to measure myself, which would involve figuring out where the heck my measuring tape is. ;) I should really give that a try though.
