So this morning Isaac woke up at 5:00 a.m., and I thought he'd go back to sleep once I brought him into my bed and nursed him, but no such luck. He nursed a bunch, then sat up and babbled, then we switched sides, nursed some more, and then he tried to start crawling around the bed. I was like, I am NOT okay with this. I kept trying to make him lie down and of course he didn't want to. I just wanted him to be calm and quiet until 7 when the alarm goes off! Argh.

So then -- I'm not proud of this, but dude it was 6 a.m. and I just did not want to be up yet -- I put him back in his crib to scream and cry for ten minutes or so. After which I got him up, discovered he was poopy, felt really guilty (i.e. maybe that's why he was fussing that whole time?), changed the diaper, brought him back into my bed to nurse again.

And the next thing I knew it was 9:00. D'oh!!

Heh. Ah well, that'll teach me. Or not.

In other embarrassing news, Isaac now picks up a remote control, points it at the TV, and pushes the buttons. *blush* Where on earth could he have picked that up?? On the bright side, he has no interest in actually watching the TV. He just likes turning it on and off, changing the channels -- in short, he just likes pushing buttons. :)

My twin cousins, little girls who are about... what is it, three years old now? had mastered the use of the VCR the last time I saw them.

They could pick out the tapes, put them in, and press "play" and everything. And one time they even recorded something by accident.

Yep, a lot of parents I know say that their kids can do this by early ages. After all, if you're the kind of kid who enjoys watching stuff, and you have parents who like to use the TV as a babysitter, then you do see the whole "putting a tape in and pressing play" routine often enough ... and kids are great imitators....

I think all kids like to push buttons. My nephew was more interested in pushing buttons on the telephone than on the TV remote. I know you can get toy push-button telephones, but can you get toy remote controls for him to play with?

You can get toy remotes, but I'm not bothering because I don't think he would play with them. I took the batteries out of one remote that I don't use, and gave it to him, but he still would rather play with the remotes I actually use. Kids are smart that way. :)

He does also like playing with the telephone, but I keep it away from him because I don't want him wearing out the batteries by constantly turning it on and off. Nor do I want him accidentally dialing up Australia :)

I've found that Ben likes pushing buttons too - especially Mommy's.

Ack! Not the stealth poopie! I had plenty of moments like that with Ilana, too. There was no odor, so I had no idea she had a dirty diaper.

Oh, there was an odor! But I think sometimes there's considerable lag time between when he poops and when the odor becomes noticeable.
