Last night I was pathetically calling everyone I could think of to whine about how nervous I was about entertaining Isaac for an entire three-day weekend with no breaks. (Isn't that sad? I've probably never actually spent three days in a row with him without some help! This freak-out caused by my mom being on a two-week vacation....) Anyway, within a few phone calls I had at least one positive commitment and two other very firm "we'll get together at some point"s. Yay!
So this morning my lovely coworker S and his lovely but shy 9-year-old son D came by and took Isaac off. Hmm, that was a little weird, but they've babysat Isaac before and I'm sure it will be fine. S said that his 4-year-old daughter was thrilled to know that "Baby Isaac" will be spending the morning with them. And as for S's wife R, he said, "she might not want to give him back." Hee! That's okay, I know where they live. And if nothing else, I'm pretty confident that they'll bring him back once he starts trying to nurse off them. ;)
So now I have some time to myself. Yay! I think I shall use it to take a long-overdue shower. ;)
I still say that I need more friends (of the type I can call up and say "watch my kid for an hour or two"), but the ones I do have are great. <3

Date: 2004-07-07 03:32 am (UTC)My mother used to tell me how in hot weather she would take a shower with her baby (me, or was it one of my brothers, or was it both?). Anyway, the point is it's possible to shower with a baby. Probably it would work better if you didn't use soap, but then I never use soap anyway and as far as I know I get quite clean enough. (Yes, I do use shampoo, but not every day. I'm old-fashioned enough to think washing my hair once a week or when I think of it is quite sufficient, thank you.)
