bruised my ass

mamajoanThe subject line is a lame attempt at humor/punnage. So sue me, my brain is fried.
I did indeed bruise my ass yesterday while my mom and I were (finally!) getting the last of my stuff out of my old apartment. It was a stupid and extremely painful accident involving a mop handle and an injudiciously packed car. I don't want to talk about it. Anyway, the bruise is quite impressive, which is sad because I can't really show it to anyone. I did show it to my mom, because if you can't show your mom the bruise on your ass, what's the point of life?
We did finally manage to clear all my stuff out of the old place, took the keys over to the landlord, made a ceremonial last trip to the local ice cream shop, and then drove to my new place and unloaded and collapsed. Whew! At least I'm all moved now, even though of course the new place is in complete chaos, with stuff strewn all over everywhere -- and that's BEFORE Isaac got into one of the bags and tossed its contents everywhere. ;) Fortunately my friend Cyndi is coming down from Vermont tomorrow to help me get organized, otherwise I'd be seriously freaking out. As it is I'm only mildly freaking out.
Oh, in other news, Isaac can stand up and take steps, while holding onto something/someone. He's not confident enough to stand on his own yet, although I think he's physically capable of it. He's a pretty cautious boy. In the last few days he's taken about four nose-dives into the floor, so his head/face are getting pretty banged up; he needs to learn how to get his hands in front to block his fall. His favorite thing about the new place is the big mirror above his changing table; after having his diaper changed he likes to stand on the table and have a chat with his reflection.
