I am so freaked out about the packing/moving stuff. The movers come on Thursday! Augh! I have packed about two dozen boxes and the apartment is still a cluttered mess. On the bright side, though, I *have* managed to mostly clear off most of the large furniture items that I'll want the movers to move -- notably the piano, bookcases, video cabinet, and TV -- and clear paths to them (mostly), and I don't have to take everything out of the dressers/bureaus.

Still, I'm not sanguine about the rest of the stuff. I know I have an "out" in that, whatever isn't packed, I can say "oh, leave that, I'll take it over myself," but with our chorus concert on Saturday and tickets to the Red Sox game on Monday (the holiday), that really only leaves me Sunday for moving stuff. Well, maybe Friday night. Or maybe I'll freak out after the movers have been, and decide to take Friday off work.

My mom came over and looked at my chaos and said it was looking good. She felt it looked like I had things under control at least as far as the major heavy things that I want the movers to do. So that was nice to hear, even if I'm not sure I believe her. O.O

I did also find someone to clean the new place on Tuesday, so it'll be all nice and sparkling when the movers come. Yay for that.

Still to be done (partial list):
* call to cancel cable at old place
* call to get cable at new place
* try to schedule electricians (ack!)
* try to schedule handyman to fix hole in kitchen ceiling
* try to schedule friend to help dissemble crib
* decide whether to buy new bed, and do so (that's a whole nother post)
* figure out how to extract sofa from mom's living room

My mom is giving me her sofabed. It's actually deceptive to call that room the living room because very little living takes place in it. ;) She mostly uses it as a guest bedroom for when people stay over, and the sofabed isn't great for that because it's too big for the room, so it's always very cramped when the bed part is folded out. So she offered it to me because my current sofa is a piece of crap. The trouble is, there are two entrances to mom's "living" room; the one that's in use is very narrow, and the other one has long since been blocked off and used for storage. We can't remember when mom acquired the sofa and whether it came in via the existing entrance, or the one that's blocked off. If the latter, we may have to "un-block" it to get the sofa out, which will be a serious pain in the ass.

However, I can't really do without a sofa, can I? So we gotta figure this out somehow ... I am hoping to find a moving company that will be willing to come and look and tell us what to do.

All the stuff that for weeks I've been telling myself "sell this on ebay so you won't have to move it," is unfortunately going to have to be moved, because now there's no time. I did list a bunch of books on ebay as 5-day listings so they'll end on Friday and if the person pays quickly I can mail them on Saturday, otherwise I'll have to move them. Ah well. That's what I get for procrastinating. sigh. I did sell some baby clothes last week (the winning bidder wrote that she wanted them for her baby to wear on Memorial Day) and also gave away a bunch of stuff to a low-income couple here in Waltham, which was my mitzvah for last week....

Whew. And now, bed. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

We were still packing stuff when the movers came. Luckily, we did manage to get most of it done while they were there, but we still ended up moving way more than we had planned on our own. Moving is always to stressful and annoying. Just remember, two moves equals one fire.
