I'm still kind of on the gay-marriage high. :) Yesterday, driving home from work with NPR on the radio, I almost had to switch the channel a few times because I got so teary listening to the reports about all the weddings. Snif! Yay for my state!

Car report: We had to take it back to the mechanic because he hadn't had a part the first time, but now it's all fixed. He did a tune-up, replaced two coils (which I don't know what those are but apparently they're related to the spark plugs), and changed the air filter, which again I'm hazy on what it does, but he said it didn't look like it had EVER been changed, which can't be good. Now that it's been replaced, maybe I won't get that musty smell every time I turn on the AC? Who knows? Anyway, the car is running SO much better now and I am SO relieved. And it only cost my mom $350! ;) I'm sure she'll add it to the ledger. What's another $350 when she just lent me 42 grand?

The LJ-color meme:
1. Copy and paste this: username into your journal.
2. Replace square brackets with html brackets.

(the meme doesn't say, but you also replace "username" with your actual username, duh)

I have no idea how it works, but it's kind of neat.

It is, isn't it?

I know that you can use hex values to represent colours, so maybe it reads the username as hex, or something....

/me shrugs

But it is pretty!

Stolen from here:

Color tags try and parse what they know - if they hit a partial match, they'll use it.

For example:
gray works, but
grey parses as "gre" or "green"

...

The trick is that it has to uniquely match only *one* code. "Paul" doesn't give you anything cool because there are several matches for "Pa" but none for "Pau"

Aha! Thank you!

It's more involved than that; letters are parsed hexadecimally as numbers, and it seems each browser does it differently. (A woman on my friendslist was mock-sighing at the fact that her name was just light gray, but I saw it as bright magenta.)

Yeah. It seems to be browser-dependent. And I tried some tests, and...

cyantest (cyan? nope, not in IE.)

Here is a more complete (and correct) answer, it seems.
