mamajoan: me in hammock (bini yawn)

Grump. After a blissful 19 months, I have once again been visited by that bitch, Aunt Flo. Also known as my period. Oh well, it had to happen eventually, but it's still annoying.

And I was unprepared! :P I had an inkling it might be coming, but I still didn't have any supplies on hand at the office. I had to borrow a pad from a coworker. *blush* Time to hit the store! I thought I had a bunch of pads left over from postpartum, but it turns out I only have a few. sigh.

Of course, from what I hear, there's no telling whether I'll be at all regular for a while. It could be months before I have another period, or just weeks. Who knows? Ain't the reproductive cycle grand? :P

So what, no period while heavily nursing or something? This is a side effect of which I was unaware.

Oh, sorry, my bad for assuming everyone would know. *g* Yes, breastfeeding tends to delay the return of menses. It's different for everyone -- e.g. [livejournal.com profile] ww1614 got her periods back after just a few weeks with both her kids even though she was nursing them, but I also know women who didn't menstruate again until they had weaned, and all the variations in between.

I wrote about it all a while back in this post.
