We're Here, We Sing, Get Used To It!
May. 11th, 2004 11:11 amAs you may know, here in my beloved home state of Massachusetts, same-sex marriage will be legal as of next Monday, the 17th. My hometown, Cambridge, is well-known as the most liberal town (or one of, anyway) in an already very liberal state, and the clerks in Cambridge plan to start issuing marriage licenses to gay couples starting at 12:01am on Monday. Just before that, from about 11pm on Sunday night, there will be live entertainment at City Hall.
And my choir, the Cambridge Community Chorus, has been invited to perform!!! I am SO excited! This is history in the making and we will be there! We're going to sing two songs and I believe the Gay Men's Choir will also perform.
I am planning to take Isaac along even though it'll be awfully late for him. I want to get some pictures of him in the middle of things on this historic day. I just know I'm going to break down and bawl my eyes out. :)
Oh, and in the spirit of the Flowers For Al And Don project, if anyone wants to PayPal me a couple bucks, I'm going to get a bouquet of flowers and take them along to give to one of the lovely gay couples. :) Yay! Anyway, you can paypal me at p1sces (at) englishchick (dot) com. That's Pisces with a one in place of the i.
I'll also try to compile and post a list of florists near City Hall that will deliver, in case anyone's interested.

Date: 2004-05-11 08:20 am (UTC)And it's my state too! Even though my representative *spit* is anti-gay marriage.
I am toying with the crazy idea of coming up to Cambridge to see you sing and also participate, but I may be being unrealistic. Money is so frickin' tight right now especially since Massachusetts has *not* sent me my tax refund yet even though it's been 5 weeks. *grrr*

Couldn't I be put on the list as a special Isaac babysitter? Or I could sing (I'm an alto).

Date: 2004-05-11 09:05 am (UTC)How fantastic that you are planning to take your son with you on such a historic day as May 17th. It will hopefully be an amazing day for many.
Good luck on your performance!!
