serendipity
Apr. 28th, 2004 09:36 pmLast night, I vowed that I was not going to put off any longer telling my landlord that I'm moving. So I geared myself up and called him. And got a busy signal. D'oh! I hit redial several times and finally gave up, vowing to try again tonight.
Tonight, I got home from work and found a message on my voicemail ... from the landlord, asking me to call him. OK, interesting timing. So I called, and the following conversation ensued:
Me: It's funny you called, cuz just yesterday I called you but your line was busy.
Him: Oh, why did you call, is anything wrong?
Me: No, I was calling [deep breath!] to tell you I'm moving out.
Him: Huh. Well, I was calling to tell you I'm raising the rent.
LOL!
So it seems he's raising the rent by $100/month (which, although it's a lot, is totally reasonable for this place) and it kinda sucks because just tonight my mom's coworker B. came over to see the place, and she liked it a lot but didn't think she could afford any more than it currently costs. So I had told her I would find out whether T might raise the rent on the new tenant. Bad timing in that sense, alas.
But good timing in the sense that, if I weren't already planning to move out, I'd be upset about this!
Life is funny.
