updatey-cakes
Mar. 18th, 2004 06:29 pmThe chocolate update: Not long after I sent my snarky email to the chocolate people, I got a message from the receptionist at work telling me that the chocolates had arrived (I had asked her to let me know, and no, she doesn't actually know they're chocolates, just a package). Anyway, no response yet to my snarky email. I'll let you know.
The baby update: Isaac had his 9-month checkup today. The good news is that he's still growing steadily, remaining around the same place on the growth curve; and the doctor didn't think his cough was anything to worry about. The bad news is that he has his first ear infection. It's ten days of amoxycillin for my little guy. :( Oh well, hopefully it will make him feel better, and everyone says that no baby goes through all of babyhood without at least one ear infection (although, insert crackpot theory about eating solid foods and corresponding drop in breastmilk consumption here), and anyway it can't be a very major infection because the doctor had to look in his ears three times -- using a special tool to clean out the wax before the third time -- and I figure if it were a really bad infection she wouldn't have to do that because it would just be obvious. Anyway, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. And although he did cry when his ears were being looked in and when he got his two shots, he perked right up as soon as it was over, and was quite cheerful at grandma's house when I dropped him off. So he can't be feeling TOO terrible.
The house update: Today I signed the P&S (purchase & sale agreement) today, which involved writing perhaps the biggest check I've ever written in my life. The check was for 2.5% of the purchase price, minus the $1000 that I already put down as a deposit when we made our offer. Now, assuming that the sellers also sign the P&S, the sale will be virtually assured, unless something major goes wrong, like we can't get a mortgage (highly unlikely!) or whatever.
Whee! A house!
So now I have to figure out how to break the news to my landlord. I feel bad about it, for his sake, because he's a great landlord. But when I moved in he told me that the only reason anyone ever moves out of his apartments is when they have major life changes, like getting married, or (in my case) having a baby and buying a house. *g* So I think he'll understand.
Anyway, that's the news on this end! And now if you'll excuse me, my soup is cold.
