The closer it gets, the more nervous I am about tomorrow's long plane trip with Isaac. We have approx. a 4.5-hour flight to Denver and then a 2.5-hour flight to Phoenix. I'm not so much worried about maneuvering all our assorted crap, because I think I'm pretty good at handling that kind of thing, but I'm more worried about how he'll take the extended sitting-down time. He doesn't really like to be sitting (i.e., the person who's holding him sitting) and I'm worried that he'll scream the whole time we're taking off and landing. And then if there's turbulence and they turn the seatbelt sign back on. Sigh.
I'm also a bit worried about me getting hungry. I always tend to get hungry when I travel (airplane food being so unsatisfying, especially as a vegetarian) and it's bound to be worse since I eat SO much more now that I'm nursing. (Seriously, everyone who knows me is amazed by how much I eat now.) So I've already got a long list of things I plan to take along for snacking, and hopefully it'll keep me.
My wonderful coworker Rosemary, who has already given us a few little teeny items like, oh, say, a crib, and a rocking chair, and a playard -- you know, little niceties like that -- yesterday gave us a stroller too, and I think I like it better than the stroller I bought us ages ago, except for that this one's front right wheel doesn't rotate, which makes it hard to steer. Wow, talk about your run-on sentences; sorry! ;) Anyway, I'm hoping to have a look at the wheel and see if I can make it cooperate, because I think this stroller would do us a lot better for the trip than our first one.
In other news, Isaac has discovered his right ear and likes to play with it while he nurses. Not his left, though. He is definitely already showing a right-side preference, with feet as well as hands (kicks his right leg a lot more than his left). I had thought he might be left-handed like me, but it seems not. Of course, time will tell.
One thing I am looking forward to about our trip, is the warm Arizona weather. It has been SO cold and nasty around here lately! :P

Date: 2003-11-12 05:40 pm (UTC)Some years ago I flew to Seattle with my housemate. The airline failed to pack enough meals, and ran out several rows before us. I was so glad I'd packed bread and cheese for us (enough to share with the mom-with-infant next to us, even).
