ceci n'est pas un update
Sep. 28th, 2003 05:17 pmThis will be a pretty poor update considering all that I have to say.
I got a lovely package in the mail from
rhiacat. Among the things it contained was a box of Smarties. Here in the US, Smarties are sort of tart chalky candy things (hard to describe), but apparently in other countries they're M&M-like things. But yummier. I was all, "I'll just taste a few to see what they're like," and next thing, the box is almost empty. :) Thanks
rhiacat!
I also got a CD of the version of the Mozart Requiem that my choir is doing, about which I really do have a post waiting; it just needs to be, you know, written. Sigh.
This weekend we stayed at my mom's, as we seem to do every weekend, and Isaac had several visitors. Old family friends who hadn't had a chance to come by and meet him yet. One of them turns out to *love* babysitting and offered to take him almost any weeknight or weekend. She may turn out to be the perfect solution for chorus rehearsal nights once our Messiah cycle starts up. I'm very happy about that! I used to babysit for her daughter (now in law school! ugh, I'm old) so it seems apropos somehow that she should babysit for my son. :) She also brought a box of lovely new baby clothes from Baby Gap. I have to admit, much as I'm anti-Gap for myself, they do make some great baby stuff.
The other friends who visited brought Isaac a pair of (handmade?) leather/suede booties that they got out West on a vacation. I felt a twinge of conscience because I'm really trying to divest myself of all things leather, but you can't say that to people when they give you a baby gift, can you? So I'm not sure what I'll do but they won't fit him for a while yet anyway, so I have time to decide.
Sleepwise, Isaac is still about the same. He sleeps quite well at night, then is extremely cheerful and delightful in the morning, and by early afternoon he's tired and cranky. If we can get him to nap significantly (as opposed to today's 10-minute nap), he's okay, but otherwise, by 4 or 5 p.m. he's just so tired and crying and crying and it's sad, and hard to deal with. Sigh. Anyway, as I type this he's been sleeping for almost an hour, so I have hopes for tonight.
I'm overflowing with other things to say but they'll have to wait. I need food. Oh -- welcome to
cynthia1960, another of my RL fans making the plunge into livejournal! :)

Date: 2003-09-29 05:41 pm (UTC)you know you can get them (and Aeros, and most importantly of all Crunchies!!!!) and other English and Irish candies fairly easily in the Boston area. I can ask my mom what supermarket she picks them up at if you like. :)
