bad mommy, no biscuit :(
Sep. 18th, 2003 05:05 pmIsaac slept in his swing (battery-powered) from 1:45 to 4:00. Then he fussed a bit and went back to sleep. At 5:00, I stopped the swing. Of course he woke right up and cried. What was I thinking???
OK, I know what I was thinking, and it was, "he NEVER naps for this long, is something wrong, maybe I shouldn't let him sleep in the swing so much, it could stunt his growth." I dunno, somehow I had myself convinced that it would do him some sort of harm -- I was probably addled from all the peace and quiet. :(
Anyway, I nursed him and he's fine, but I'm still traumatized. :P Note to self: don't wake the baby, dumbass!
And I guess I have to think about my comfort level with the swing. On one hand, if it helps him sleep and I know he needs sleep, why not? On the other hand, can all that motion be good for him?
It's not that I'm worried he'll come to depend on it. He's already showing that he can sleep in his crib, can get to sleep without nursing, etc. But I worry about it anyway. Go figure.
ETA: Also, it *did* sort of freak me that he was napping longer than usual. I guess I'm never satisfied -- if he doesn't nap I worry, if he naps too much I worry...!

Date: 2003-09-18 05:01 pm (UTC)But yeah, the first time they sleep longer than you expect, it's freaky. The first time both my kids slept through the night, I ended up shaking them to make sure they were alive. I'm serious.
