plus ca change?
Aug. 18th, 2008 03:03 pmThis morning, things seemed to be going fine. I felt much better, not nauseated at all any more, just weak and listless from not having eaten since Saturday evening. I got the kids all ready for school, packed up the car, and off we went.
Well, we got about half a block before Isaac suddenly announced that he had a "tummyache," and as I was still trying to figure out how to respond to that, he threw up. Yep, all over himself and his carseat, while I could do nothing but watch in the rear-view mirror. Siiiigh.
So I turned the car around and went the half-block back home -- Isaac crying and me going "It's okay, it's okay" and Ruthie going "what we doing?" My mind was already moving to "oh crap how I am going to get Ruthie to daycare and out of my hair?" not to mention all the assloads of work I have to do today. Ugh!
Got home, stripped off Isaac's clothes and hosed him down, put him in his bed to lie down. Ruthie of course is all full of pep and her latest thing, the dreaded "why?" *headdesk* I had to take her out with me to unstrap Isaac's carseat from the car and bring it inside and try to wipe it down. I'm there on the floor trying to dismantle the thing so as to remove the washable cover, and Ruthie hovering over me with a new "why??" every thirty seconds. (So how was YOUR Monday morning?)
Props to the lovely
orbitalmechanic who came over and hung with Isaac while I zipped Ruthie over to daycare. Needless to say, within minutes of barfing, Isaac was totally fine and full of pep. ARGH! I've been home with him all day, since he of course can't go to school. So far we've done one 100-piece puzzle, played Blokus and several games of Crazy 8s and Rat-a-tat-Cat (another card game), and had a totally futile "nap" during which we lay down and I dozed while Isaac bounced around like a spring on his bed. WTF!! Why can't a sick kid be sick, dammit!
Oh, and all that work that needed to get done today? Yeah, not so much with the getting done. sigh.
Cross your fingers that this plague is done with our family now! that's quite enough barfing for oneweek month year. plz? kthx.
