mamajoan: me in hammock (ruthie nursing)
Yow! I just pumped 9+ ounces. What the hell, boobs?

Ruthie has finally started to get the hang of actually drinking the breastmilk out of her sippy cup, so yay for that. It makes the pumping seem a bit less silly.

She still hasn't figured out how to nap at the nanny's, though. I'm actually getting a little worried about her. :( I don't want her to, like, damage her brain development via too much sleep deprivation. She spends most of the night nursing, so she isn't getting too much sleep overnight either. This is not good. I really hope she gets the hang of napping at nanny's soon. It's so sad to pick her up in the evening and see her little droopy, blinky, exhausted face -- even though she is very good at remaining cheerful and active despite her exhaustion. It can't be good for her longterm, though. sigh.

Work proceeds apace. I'm on my pumping break right now (duh). Working in Harvard Square isn't the awesome thing I thought it would be commute-wise, but it sure does provide a lot of lunch options. We are literally about a thirty seconds' walk from Veggie Planet, which is, as the name suggests, an awesome vegetarian restaurant. I may not even need to explore the other options. I could just go to Veggie Planet every single darn day.

It's just over two weeks till my birthday, so I have my reservation for the Chocolate Buffet this coming Saturday. (Mom will be away the next two Saturdays, so if we want her to babysit while we do the chocolate thing, it had to be this weekend.) I am excited. I may not eat all day Friday in preparation. ;)

Last night I dreamt that Ruthie and I went over to [livejournal.com profile] orbitalmechanic's house to meet Violet, and she was growing before our very eyes. In reality Violet is a mere six days older than Ruthie, but in my dream she was about a foot taller and had long, flowing dark hair of which I was very jealous (on Ruthie's behalf). Also, it seems that Jessie's husband T was pregnant.

(Speaking of Ruthie's hair, it has very noticeable reddish highlights. Everyone comments on this. I have no idea how I managed to wind up with a red-haired, blue-eyed baby.)

okay, was that random enough for ya? now back to work!
mamajoan: me in hammock (don't panic 2)
OK, it has been a bit of a while since I posted the first part of this story, so if you need to refresh your memory, part one is here.
