mamajoan: me in hammock (bagel yummy)
On Sunday, I took Isaac to Target to get a lunchbox. Good thing I didn't specifically tell him we'd look for a Thomas the Tank Engine lunchbox, 'cause they didn't have any. But he found one shaped like a dump truck and he looooooooves it.

I am, of course, new to this whole packing a lunch thing (our old daycare provided lunch, which I'm discovering is extremely rare), so it's a learning curve. Yesterday I packed a small container of Isaac's favorite canned ravioli noodles (the daycare will microwave it), a little container of blueberries, and a little container of goldfish crackers. He ate the noodles and a few of the crackers. When we got into the car to go home, I offered him the blueberries and he ate them all, then ate all the rest of the goldfish. Then he ate a lot of dinner, so he was clearly hungry. I think part of the problem is that he's a very slow eater and since naptime comes right after lunch, he can't necessarily linger over his food. I'm not sure what, if anything, to do aboout this. Perhaps packing more food, or a greater variety, might help; or maybe not.

Today I packed basically the same as yesterday but a different style of noodles. Tomorrow I shall have to branch out, lest Isaac get bored....

The cafeteria in my new office building is pretty good (it's a Rebecca's Cafe in case that means anything to you). They have a vegetarian option each day for both the grill and the soup (although, who the hell is eating soup in this weather??). They also have a sandwich counter. Today I had a wrap with roasted red peppers, garlic mayo, and mozzarella -- it was quite good and reasonably priced. Yesterday I had the broccoli quiche, which was okay. Tomorrow I think I shall try the salad bar. Eventually, I should start bringing my lunches in order to economize, but for the first week I thought that would be more than I could handle. Maybe also the second week.... ;)

okay, pumping break's over, back to reading about process. whee!
