Chorus rehearsal last night. Went pretty well. Isaac did great with his babysitter despite not having seen her in months. You'd have thought he saw her just the other day for all he cared. :)

Needless to say she was quite impressed with how much his language skills have progressed since last she saw him. She was raving about all the stuff he can say/understand, and then she paused and said, "well, you know all this already," and I said, "sure, but it's nice to hear it from you too!" :)

Oddly, she also said that I look thinner than last time she saw me. I mentioned this to my mom at rehearsal and she said it was probably my outfit. Something about that combination of shorts and shirt was slimming, I guess. I do suspect I may have lost some weight, but not THAT much. And I sure as heck feel like my belly is growing, although the mirror doesn't necessarily bear that out.

Had some "interesting times" before all that, though. gastrointestinal TMI -- not too graphic, I promise )

Ahh the joys of pregnancy! On the plus side, the second trimester looms (either one or three weeks away depending on which source you believe) and with any luck I'll start feeling much much better. And being able to eat normal meals again. That sounds nice.

In extremely random news, my ex-coworker who left to go work for Google reports that Terry Pratchett is giving a talk at Google today.

It's Tuesday, and that means time for a new "Daily" Quiz over at [livejournal.com profile] ljdq! If you read the answers that were posted yesterday, you know that I did a gig as guest moderator for the last quiz. Well, [livejournal.com profile] angledge is shipping out soon to go Down South and help with the hurricane recovery effort, so it looks like I'll be co-moderating again. This week's quiz theme is in honor of yesterday's special holiday, which I know many of you celebrated. So go check it out. I'm particularly proud of question #6, which I wrote. :) And [livejournal.com profile] tiggrrl may find that question #3 brings back some fond (or frightening) memories... :)

In other news, I spoke to the people running the prematurity study that I may have mentioned here. It looks like I am going to enroll in the study, which (to recap) is looking at women who have had a previous premature birth and are pregnant again. It involves applying a gel daily(?) and then having periodic visits with their doctor. I told the research assistant chick that I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next week, and she consulted with the doctor and said she would have to call me back when they figure out whether they can use that u/s for their purposes or whether they'll want me to come for another one at their hospital. So once they figure that out, we'll see what's what.

woohoo!!!

And my mom just emailed to say that she bought us two tickets to the first game of the American League Division Series!!!!!!! *runs around in circles* Woohoo!!

Of course, if the Sox continue to play the way they have been, they might not MAKE the playoffs -- but it seems pretty unlikely. We might slip out of first place, but then we'd still be in it for the wild-card. That game WILL be played! And we'll be there! :) :)

Sigh, just got a call from daycare saying that Isaac's eyes are red and goopy, and I have to go get him and have him evaluated for conjunctivitis (aka pinkeye).

Yeah, I noticed his eyes have been a bit goopy lately, which has all been part of my overall theory about him having allergies similar to mine. Allergic conjunctivitis isn't contagious, but other types are, so obviously daycare isn't going to let him come back until they know what it is. Siiiiigh.

OK, off I go.
