augh! make it stop!
Aug. 13th, 2005 03:59 pmOMFG you guys. This heat is insane. In. Sane. It saps your will to live!
It is like 97 degrees out now and approx. the same inside my apartment. Mom and I went shopping this morning with the idea of looking at some air conditioners, that's how desperate we were (see below my list of reasons not to buy an a/c). The store we went to was sold out, of course, so we ended up buying more fans instead. They help, but it's still hot as fuck in here.
Listen, I don't mind a little hot weather, but this is getting ridiculous. Normally by this time of year, this would be like maybe the fourth or fifth really hot day of the summer. But instead it's more like the fortieth. We have had WAY more days of really, really hot weather this year than normal, and it's really getting to the point of intolerable!
After we went shopping, mom took Isaac to a sing-along at a toy store and then back to her house. I came back home and put together my new fan and tried to take a nap, but couldn't do much more than doze on and off due to the heat. So then I got up and puttered around. I am groggy but don't want to lie down again. I am irritated because I napped poorly and am groggy. I have no motivation to do anything except sit here like a lump. I've done three loads of laundry at least, which is helpful, but I also REALLY ought to wash the dishes and scoop out the litterbox. I'm sitting here in front of a fan trying to get up the will to go do those things.
The lawn also needs mowing in a major way, but there is NO way I'm mowing the lawn in this heat. Talk about a recipe for disaster.
I don't know WHAT we're going to do to keep ourselves sane tomorrow if it's anything like this. I'm guessing we'll go grocery shopping and, like, take the whole day to do it. At least the store will be air-conditioned. I'm also thinking water play. I'll either set up the wading pool in our backyard, or maybe just fill up the bathtub and stick Isaac in there with some cups for pouring. We're not doing anything too energetic, I tell you THAT right now!
( reasons I'm not buying an A/C )
Well, time to go rub an ice cube over my body and tackle the chores. I'll probably start with the dishes. At least that involves putting my hands in water! I can wash dishes in cold, right?
