mamajoan: me in hammock (wtf)
Taken from an AP story: A landslide in Laguna Beach destroyed 17 multimillion-dollar houses and damaged nearly 11 others yesterday.
What the hell is "damaged nearly 11 others"???? Did it damage ten others? Then say ten others! "Nearly 11"?? What the hell does that even mean?

Ugh, sorry. The use of "nearly" and "over" and similar with small numbers like this is a big peeve of mine. I think there should be a rule that they mayn't be used with numbers under, say, a hundred.

*grump*

Anyone else noticing that Gmail is awfully slow today? I don't think it's my computer, because other sites are performing as usual. It's taking a really long time just to display an email after I click on it. Way annoying.

I just mowed the lawn. Now I am sweaty and achy, and I have a nice big blister forming on my left thumb. Ouchie.

I need to mow again, because I did it at the medium height and should go over it again at low height. But I don't think I'll be doing any more mowing today. Maybe tomorrow (I'm taking the day off work). Darn blister.

Now the dilemma: ice cream, then shower? or shower, then ice cream? Or save the ice cream till later, considering I haven't actually eaten any healthful lunch?

On the plus side, there's pride in accomplishment when you can look out the window and see a nice big mowed lawn. Not up to the level of, say, the pride from pushing a live human being out your vagina, but it'll do for today. :)
