I called the Public Works department and they said they'd come get my trash today. I hope they do. I don't want to have to deal with it.

This after about ten minutes spent clicking around on the city website looking for a phone number. Ridiculous! They just redid the entire site and yeah, it looks pretty, but what good is it if I can't find the info I need? I know some people figure if you're looking at a website you don't need phone numbers, but come on, a city website? There are SO many things you might need to call about. Yeesh.

ah well. Time to get Isaac and myself dressed and take him over to grandma.

...that I found my chair. You may recall that it disappeared after I left it marking my parking space the day after the big snowstorm last week. Turns out, it wasn't really gone after all; I just didn't notice it because I never look at the house next to the one I usually park in front of. Both those houses are for sale and currently unoccupied, and it turns out that my chair was in the fenced-in front yard of that second house. I noticed it a couple days ago when I was coming home, but since I was wrangling Isaac and our stuff out of the car, I didn't have a chance to investigate.

So I checked it out today and sure nuff, it's a chair exactly like my chair. I mean, it's a generic folding chair of the sort you see all over, so who can say for SURE whether it's my chair, but the odds are good.

Since that house is unoccupied, its front walk and the sidewalk in front of it haven't been shoveled since the big snow. So I had to slog through a foot or more of snow all the way across the sidewalk and up the front walk of the house. And then I couldn't budge the gate, on account of all the snow, so I had to sort of hitch my belly up onto it and reach over and just barely snag the chair with my fingertips. From the positioning, it looked *exactly* as if someone simply tossed it from the parking space and it sailed over the fence and into the yard, and hadn't been touched since.

So, I have my chair back, and perhaps the people who own that house will be confuzzled when they come along and find footprints in their walk leading over to the gate and back; or, since they obviously haven't come by in a while, perhaps not. I mean, given the snow situation on their walk, it's obvious that they aren't making a huge effort to sell the house; they're not having open houses or otherwise showing it, clearly. So they probably don't give a shit. Whatever.

In other news, Whole Foods is like a minefield when you're hungry and poor. Once again Joan shows complete disregard for the First Law of Shopping. I think I did fairly well though. I did have to get a quart of their corn chowder, because they so rarely have it and I so love it and it's so hard to find vegetarian corn chowder. I believe I shall go have some of it now. *drool*

1. They did not pick up my trash. This is Teh Suck.

2. A water main broke and my mom's entire neighborhood is without running water. See above re: Teh Suck.

3. The corn chowder was as delish as always. *drool*

4. Still hungry though. suck.

For some strange reason tonight I had the urge to make brownies. Well, actually I had the urge to make oatmeal cookies, which was all [livejournal.com profile] skreeky's fault, but the bowl of my mixer is still awaiting a good scrub so I did brownies instead. Man, there is nothing like the way baking brownies make the house smell. <3

Sadly, my tummy is upset so I can't eat many of 'em. :( Ah well, I'm planning to take them to the office tomorrow anyway. I can't be having a whole pan of brownies just lying around the house. That's crazy talk.

I know my posts have been mostly snarky/whiny/unhappy lately, so here's a little brightener. Some cute things Isaac has done lately.

He's loving the "I'm gonna getcha" game. I just say it and he starts running away, shrieking with laughter. He waves his hands in the air as he runs which is just sooo funny. Then I grab him and yell "Gotcha!", and he screams and I toss him up in the air and smooch him. And now, lately, he says "more da-da!" which is the closest to "more gotcha" that he can manage. He immediately wants to be put down so we can start all over again. :)

It's funny to me how he says "more ____" and if he doesn't know the name of the thing he wants more of, he tries to make it up. On most of his books he has a favorite page, and when we finish the book he'll ask to turn back to it. On Are You My Mother? his favorite is the page where the baby bird falls out of the nest and falls down, down, down, plop! So he says "more down down?" (It's also funny to me how everything he says has a rising inflection like it's a question.)

So tonight we were getting ready for bed, and I always undress him and then play kissy games on his belly, because it's so round and cute and enticing. So I did my usual "gonna kiss it gonna kiss it gonna kiss it," which always makes him laugh. And then I zrbrt'd him, and he was just laughing so hard, and he had both his hands on my face pushing me away, and I was kissing his hands and laughing and he was laughing, it was good times.

And then he said "more" and made a raspberry noise! It was his way of saying more zrbrts! LOL! What a smart boy! <3 <3 <3

In other adorable news, Isaac's latest words are sneeze, yawn, and (I'm pretty sure today he said) cough. And just yesterday he started saying "wa-da" for water instead of his previous "wa." I got so used to his one-syllable version, now it sounds really funny to hear him enunciate it so carefully. :) And I continue to be amused/fascinated by the way he says his name: "zah-zih." It's just sooooo cute. :)

OK, that oughta hold ya for a while. Tomorrow morning first thing, back to the snark! ;)
