mamajoan: me in hammock (red sox)
Oops, keep forgetting to post over the weekends. Happy belated Samhain, all!

Saturday, we went to the Red Sox victory parade. It was drizzly, but at least it wasn't too cold (although my brother, who lives in Arizona and flew up for the parade, thought it was freezing, LOL, he's turned into a wimp!) and the rain did pause for a while at just the right moment. The parade was super-fun! They say something like three million people turned out. It was definitely crowded. We had a fairly good view when the guys went by the first time, in the streets. We got a couple of good pictures. Then we (and a few hundred thousand of our closest friends *g*) went into the nearby mall to use the bathroom and got some Krispy Kremes, and then we went down to the river to watch the parade go by again. (The players and other team dignitaries were all riding on Duck Boats, which are these tourist boats that can go on the streets like a bus and then go into the water and become a boat. So after the parade went through the city streets, they put the boats in the water and cruised along the banks.) This time it was harder to see because there were soooo many people, but it was still cool.

I put a few of our pictures of the parade up, here, and will probably put up more later.

Then we went back to mom's place and crashed. We were sooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired. Wow.

Sunday, we mostly just hung out, and then we gave out some candy. I expected more trick-or-treaters to come early in the evening, before it got too dark, but as it turns out the majority of them actually came later, like around 6:30-7:00. Huh. Well, whatever. Anyway, I got rid of almost all of the three bags of candy I had bought, so I count that a victory. ;)

And now it's Monday and nothing to do but work, bite one's fingernails, and try not to think about tomorrow. Oh, and my mom left this morning for her 10-day trip (which is a combination of political activism (she's going to work the polls in Arizona), visit with my brother, business trip, and visit with her brother and my grandma). So I can also try not to think about how we're going to get through ten days without her. sigh.
