Bwa! Y'all thought you knew me so well, eh? ;)

Here are the answers to the "four truths, one lie" meme....

I have three brothers. -- 19 votes

TRUE! I have two half-brothers via my father. They are 15-ish years older than me and I've only ever met them once (whem I was about 3). I also have one full brother with whom I grew up.

I have climbed up both the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. -- 5 votes

True. In both cases the elevators were broken on the day I visited, and we ended up taking the stairs. The Eiffel Tower was when I was about 12. The Statue of Liberty was when I was 6 or 7 and it was a sweltering hot day. That experience is infamous in family lore for my brother yelling, when we got back to the bottom all sweaty and exhausted, "Let's do it again!"

Lucy Lawless once kissed me on the cheek after I saw her play Rizzo in "Grease" on Broadway. -- 1 vote

False. I did see her in "Grease" and got her autograph by the stage door afterward, but there was no smoochage. Alas.

I have five tattoos, which I got in four different US states. -- 0 votes

True. Ohio (2), New York, New Hampshire, and Florida.

A picture I drew in daycare was used as the design for the daycare center's T-shirts. -- 0 votes

True. They were amused/impressed that I took care to draw elbows and knees on all my stick figures. :)

I finally got around to calling this woman my mom had found for me, who might be a good babysitter option. She lives on the same street as, and her 6-year-old daughter is friends with the 6-year-old daughter of, one of my mom's coworkers. I had been putting off calling her simply because I hate calling people I don't know. It's a phone phobia thing.

Anyway, she sounded VERY nice. She has 13 years of child-care experience (including some time working at a daycare center), has a degree in early childhood education, knows infant CPR, the whole bit. She pretty much said she can do whatever schedule I want, which was what I was hoping not to hear ;) because I don't know exactly how I want to work things, but it's nice that she's flexible anyway! She could come here and get Isaac and take him back to her place and then bring him back. Or I could bring him to her. Or she could hang out with him at my place while I work at home (optimal for my comfort level but not for me getting work done, which after all is the whole point).

Anyway, we arranged for her to come here on Thursday and meet me and the boy, and maybe between now and then I'll figure out what makes sense. I was thinking she could take Isaac on days that I work from home, but as I consider it, that makes less sense; it would make more sense for her to have him on days that I go to the office. Or maybe not? I dunno. I'll have to ponder it. Anyway, I'm encouraged by how nice she sounded and how easy she was to talk to, and hopefully we'll really like her, and we'll be able to work something out.

She charges $13-$15 per hour, which is at the high end of what I've been hearing is standard. I won't argue whether she's worth it, but it will certainly be a bit of a blow to my finances. Oh well. I do need something in the way of child care, that much is becoming obvious, so I'm going to have to resign myself to paying for it. I'd certainly much rather pay a nice chick who loves kids and wants to make her living with them, than pay a center where half the employees are just doing it for the cash and where Isaac gets lost in the midst of a dozen other kids.
