weekend in brief
Oct. 6th, 2003 10:43 amSaturday: Isaac and I slept late. Yay for lazy mornings in bed.
Saturday night: went to mom's place, had friends over to watch the Red Sox game. Go Sox!!! It was a v. exciting game, the kind that's much more fun to watch with a group. Slept at mom's.

ww1614 came up from Providence with her 4-y.o. daughter, and we had lunch, talked a little TV and a lot parenting. It was nice. Also she gave me a book on getting babies to sleep, which I am finding very interesting and helpful already.
Observing my friends with their kids has led me to the following epiphany: Every mom (and probably every dad too) thinks she is a bad mother, or at least below average. But the big secret is that she's not. All parents are just muddling through as best they can, fretting constantly over their choices, doing the right things sometimes and the wrong things other times. But every parent secretly, or not-so-secretly, thinks that other parents are more together than she is, and it just ain't so. I find this enormously comforting.
In other news, I have decided to go caffeine-free for at least a week to see whether it will have any effect on Isaac. Send me your strength, cuz I'm gonna need it! *groan*
