milestones
Mar. 2nd, 2003 09:51 pmAs of today (going by the "weeks since last period" method), I am "officially" halfway through my pregnancy. :) 20 weeks down, only 20 to go! Heh.
To celebrate, chickpea kicked me a whole bunch. I was glad, because he's been pretty quiet the last few days and I couldn't help worrying even though I know it's pretty normal at this point.
In unrelated milestone-like news, today mom and I watched our first TV Red Sox game of the season! OK, spring training, but still! I was very excited. :) Almost makes one feel like it really is spring, despite what one might see to the contrary upon looking out the window. ;) Have I mentioned recently that we have tickets to Opening Day??? *bounces around the room* Woohoo!
(Engaged in some complex mathematics today with mom, figuring out how much we owed each other for the various activities/events that we have done or are doing together. Concerts, baseball games, shopping, etc. -- it was pretty confusing. I ended up owing her $65. And that's only counting three of the seven baseball games; I couldn't decide whether I want to go with her to the Sox-Yankees game in May, because the tickets are Standing Room Only. I'm pretty sure I won't be wanting to stand for an entire ballgame at that point. Mom's all, "oh, we'll find somewhere to sit," but I can't seem to share her confidence. So I'm waffling.)
And in sucky undesirable-milestone news, this morning (okay, afternoon, I slept till noon-thirty, so sue me) I got my very first leg cramp. :P It sucked. Mom said it was probably because I stopped taking my calcium supplement (which I only did because I ran out and hadn't gotten to Bread & Circus to restock). My books said the same thing, so I rolled my eyes and went to buy another bottle. I didn't think it could have such a big effect after only a couple weeks, but apparently baby sucks up a lot of calcium. My midwife made it sound like it didn't matter whether or not I continued taking the calcium supplement, so I guess I didn't think it was that crucial. I thought I got enough calcium from my diet! Well, live and learn. :)
On this day twenty-nine years ago my mom was tearing her hair out and telling her belly, "Come on baby, get the hell out of there already! You're a week late!" But alas, I was not yet ready and would make her wait two whole more weeks. ;)
