I didn't make the cut for "Jeopardy," but I only missed by one question! :) The same is true for my friend who accompanied me. We had a lot of fun at the audition anyway, and there was one question on the test about "Smallville" plus one about "West Wing," so it made me think of all my LJ buddies. :)

Taking the day off work to go try out for "Jeopardy" really messed up my body clock. All last night I had to keep reminding myself that no, it was *not* Sunday and I should not take out the trash. (At least, if my body thinks today is Monday, it's in for a pleasant surprise.)

My new computer is here! Yay! I'm going to set it up here at work so I can install some stuff on it. Then take it home and have the whole long weekend to play with it. I'm so psyched.

The other day when I tried to bake a potato, clouds of foul-smelling smoke started pouring out of the oven. :( The apartment still smells bad despite much opening of windows, running of fans, and burning of sage. My landlord says he'll come over tomorrow and look at it. Sigh.

That's about all the news around here. Further updates as events warrant.

1. Your favorite *non-fiction* book
Damn, I can't remember the author's name, but it's a biography of Mozart and I think it's titled simply Mozart. Oh, and also, The Groucho Letters which is a collection of letters written by Groucho Marx.

2. Your favorite children's book (from the age when you were being read to, or just beginning to read)
Who can remember that far back? ;) Probably Goodnight Moon or something. When I was old enough to read on my own, I read James and the Giant Peach over and over. I was also into the Little House series.

3. Your favorite book as a young adult (define "young adult" as you will)
As a young adult I was reading adult books. I started reading Heinlein and Asimov around the age of twelve. I was also really into Little Women and its various sequels.

Yes, I was a girly girl, okay? So what? *pouts defensively*

4. Your favorite fantasy author
Terry Pratchett, hands down.

5. A slashy book that you own
Naturally, I must mention Women on Fire by my good friend The Plaid Adder! Check it out here: www.plaidder.com/wof.

I've also always thought there was something goin' on between Ali and Mahmoud in Laurie King's mysteries O Jerusalem and Justice Hall, but that suggestion started a flamewar over on the Laurie King email list, so apparently it's a controversial idea. :P

Thanks to BMG and their bizarre new policies that I don't understand at all (e.g. giving out "get a free CD" coupons like candy), I managed to get the complete set of Glenn Gould recordings of the Bach Well-Tempered Clavier for the price of shipping. This is for two two-disc sets -- four discs in all. On Amazon, each set sells for $28.99. Total cost on Amazon: $57.98. Total amount that I paid: $9.56.

I rule! No, wait, Glenn Gould rules. He is (was) god.

And: Damn, he plays the E-minor fugue from Book I fast! I've been trying to play that one at home and I had no idea it was meant to be *that* fast. Yikes. I've got a lot of work to do.

Happy Coming Out Day!

I would, but there's no one left who doesn't know about me. :)

(ETA: And I find it really amusing that "Knockaround Guys" opens today, because dude, that movie is SO going to be about the slash.)
