I really have to start reading livejournal over the weekends. I get in to work on Monday and my friends list is up to like skip=200, and I end up just skimming because I don't have the patience/energy. Which brings me to the part where I really need a computer that can display livejournal nicely and not, like, crash every second time I open a browser. And such.
I didn't read everyone's comments on "Firefly" but I'll give my own, in non-spoilery fashion: I liked it. It was a bit shaky in spots, but what pilot isn't? (And yes, I know it wasn't the "real" pilot, but it is now, by virtue of being the first aired episode.) I love Gina Torres -- dude, did you SEE her as the pirate boss on "Hercules"??? Yow! ;) So I'll definitely be sticking with this show. In fact, I may need to be forcibly restrained from starting a transcript site. Really. There are soooo many reasons why I shouldn't do this. Please. Stop me now.
(But if you know of any "Firefly" fanfic lists already, let me know.)
I also recorded "John Doe" on TiVo but didn't watch it yet. If it's any good I may end up watching it just out of inertia, since it comes on after "Firefly."
I hear there are some other good new shows, but I am determined not to acquire any more new fandoms besides "Firefly." No. No no no, dammit. Unless I decide to give up on "Angel," in which case, maybe.
In other news, I had another sort of nervous breakdown on Saturday and basically spent the whole day crying. That wasn't much fun. But I decided it was largely due to lack of sleep, so I went to bed all early, and was much better on Sunday. Except that I left my self-control at home when we went to Foxwoods, so I ended up losing way too much at the roulette and craps tables. (But craps is fun! It was our first time playing it.) I've decided not to do chorus this fall, because from the two rehearsals so far it's obvious that I'm just not in the appropriate mental space for it. I'll have to do the winter cycle, of course, since it's the stuff we're doing in Japan. But that'll be okay anyway because it's the Messiah and I could sing it in my sleep. So I can skip some rehearsals and get away with it.
Oh, I also went to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding on Saturday. I cried, but then, see above re: cried all day. No, but it was really good, I liked the movie a lot. You should see it. It was perhaps funnier for me because I have a Greek friend and I could see a lot of her family in the movie. But it's a very funny, sweet, and enjoyable movie.
Uh. More later.
