Before I went off to Worldcon, I wrote a post about friends who don't call you back. Well, the friend I was talking about there finally surfaced -- left a message on my voicemail at work. So, now it's back on me to return the call. I'm not so petty as to make him wait as long as he made me wait. ;) But work is busy today, so he'll probably have to wait till at least tomorrow.

Meanwhile, another friend whom I called during my freak-out last week, still doesn't call me back, but at least she emailed. *meaningful look* Yeah, you're reading this, you know who you are.

In unrelated news, mom and I went to our last Red Sox game of the season last night (*snif*) and I was greatly amused to learn that the Cleveland Indians have a player named Coco Crisp. I swear. How can you take a guy seriously with a name like that?

More later.

I got that recording of Bach's double keyboard concerto (BWV 1060) that I bought on ebay, and I don't like it. It's much too legato in the first movement. The piece needs to start off with an explosion on the opening chord and then the main motif should be, not staccato exactly, but sharp, separated. Certainly not legato! It's kind of like the problem I have with pretty much every recording of Mozart's Symphony #25 (K183): they always play it too lilting, too cheery. It's in g minor, for heaven's sake, people!!! It's a dark, angry symphony! He was seventeen when he wrote it! It's all about angst!!

Ahem. But anyway. So I have a recording of BWV1060, which fills a hole in my collection, but now I need a *good* recording of it. Ah well. Back to the drawing board, so to speak. (The CD's not a total loss. The third movement of 1060 is pretty good, and it also has a decent rendition of the Italian Concerto.)

I bet Glenn Gould recorded 1060. The only question is, can I get it for less than an arm and a leg?
