Went to Team Trivia Night with S. and J. tonight. Hadn't been in a while. Fun fun! And we won first place, which is $30 ($10 each). Yay us.

Foolishly, before trivia I went over to mom's to hear Cuba stories -- that wasn't the foolish part, the foolish part was drinking a whole big cup of her strong British tea. So now it's nearly 12:30am and I should be much tireder than I am. But all I am is wide awake. Perhaps I'll take this opportunity to write some slash. Or somethin'. Or, maybe I'll just sit here and stare at the tv.

I'm feeling very mercurial today. I was fairly chipper this morning (especially considering I got to bed at 2am and had serious trouble getting up). But then we had our weekly department meeting and suddenly I was Very Cranky. I just had no patience for a half-hour discussion of whether the page numbers in the index of our manual should be ten-point or twelve. Arrgggghhh.

And then, not two minutes passed between the time I finally escaped the meeting and the time a coworker/pal came to tell me it was lunchtime. I was quite cranky by then but didn't want to bite his head off, so instead I was just sort of monosyllabic at him until he went away.

All of which leads me to pull out my calendar and check my cycles. Sure 'nuff, tomorrow's the three-week point, the point at which PMS usually starts to kick in. Apparently this is going to be one of those irritable months. Some months are breast-pain months, others are heavy flow and cramping months, and then there are the irritable months. Whee. Maybe I should make this a low-caffeine month too; that often seems to help.

I love being a chick, but sometimes it sucks being so fully at the mercy of hormones.

I usually ignore these things, but I saw this one posted by [livejournal.com profile] obsessedmuch and thought, what the hell.

1. Have you ever traveled outside your own country? If so, where have you gone?

I've been to France twice, once as a school trip and once with family when I was a teenager. To Canada (Toronto) once with summer camp. And to Mexico once with family.

2. What are some of your favorite cities in your own country?

Well, Boston is my hometown and I love it dearly. I'm also partial to Chicago which is just pretty cool. Philly is cool too. In the "fun to visit, wouldn't wanna live there" category are Atlanta, Austin TX, and L.A.

3. Where would you not want to go again?

Tijuana.

4. Where have you been that you would love to visit again?

See above. Ooh, Catalina Island off the coast of California was lovely too. Our snorkeling expedition was cut too short.

5. If you were given three weeks off work and an all-expenses paid trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?

London, Australia, Tahiti. And Salzburg, for the obligatory Mozart Pilgrimage.

6. Where is the most romantic place you've ever been?

I don't pay much attention to that kind of thing. *shrug* Paris, probably.

7. What is your favorite travel memory?

Probably the time it snowed in Death Valley and I had to drive through it. :)

8. If a friend came to visit you in your home town, where would you take them?

Depends on the time of year, but assuming spring/summer, definitely to Boston Common and the swan boats; Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, the aquarium. The Museum of Science. And Salem is always fun if you don't mind a little driving.
