Yeah, see, the thing is, I joined this online dating service a couple months ago and now I'm getting all weird about it.

First of all, the damn things are so binary! They insist that you be either straight or gay. You have to specify whether you want a man or a woman. Some of us just don't make those kinds of distinctions, you know? ;) So I ended up creating two separate profiles, one as a "woman seeking woman" and one as a "woman seeking man." I only paid the one application fee though -- for the "woman seeking woman" -- I figure I'll let the men come to me. (The way it works is, if you pay the fee, you can email people who match your profile. If you don't pay the fee, you gotta wait for them to email you, and then you can reply.)

So then I bite the bullet and write emails to a couple of the chicks on there. So far no replies. What, do these women have, like, better things to do than check their email?? Like what, I'd like to know!

I did get emails from a couple of guys too. I finally bit the other bullet and replied to one of them. No reply to my reply yet.

I dunno. This whole online dating thing is kind of weird to me, but on the other hand, it's not like I have a lot of other opportunities to meet people, and a grrl can't just sit around moaning that she isn't getting any nookie. She's gotta be proactive. So I'm doing my best, anyway.

I'm not sure what'll happen if that one guy writes back. In related news, I was watching some porn over the weekend and, you know, men are just so funny-looking. I'd so much rather look at chicks naked than men. Ya know?

Not much else is going on. The boss-man is away for this whole week, so I foresee a lot of goofing off. Work, the small amount that I've actually done today, is annoying. I just was not in the mood to talk to "takes an hour to answer a simple question guy." Ugh.

On the bright side, a new Buffy episode tomorrow. Yay!

I hope you don't mind me poking in here...

rebuke me as you see fit, but...seems to me that the personals, even web-personals, are full of shy people. I had a couple of replies to some that I put out, but sometimes people just aren't ready to relate.

I don't know. All I can say is to keep on keeping on. I know that my current relationship happened without me expecting it at all.

*shrugs*

meanwhile, you lucky grrl, at least you get to watch Buffy.

The online dating this is weird, but no weirder than the newspaper dating thing, right? Just stay away from the axe murderers :)

I can see about shyness, goodness knows! -- but geez, you join the online service because you want to meet new folks, right? You can't do it halfway, sign up and then not reply to any of the messages! What a waste of all the energy it took to force yourself to sign up in the first place (another thing I know all too well). Sigh.

*comfort*

Yeah, I know what you mean.

The one good thing about it, though, is that it has forced me to face my fear of autobiography. :)

I think I'm starting to get a handle on that. *laugh*

Yes, online dating does tend to be not so fun sometimes. I've never really had good experiences with it, and I've been doing it for several years. However, my best friend met her current girlfriend with whom she is totally in love with online, so it can't be all bad.

Eep... I really need to read through what I write at nearly 3am before I post it.

It seems as though I must have graduated from the college of redundancy college. My somewhat closeted yet ever present inner english geek profusely apologizes for sleeping on the job.

You've taken your life into your own hands, posting an ungrammatical sentence to this journal :)

Aww, I would never rag on Big Al for grammar! ;) After all, she's the Math Chick. *smooch*

*relieved* I'm very happy to know that, as having my life flash before my eyes at 3 A.M. was not quite how I pictured myself spending these last few days before classes start again. On that note, neither is being awake at 9 A.M., but the guy remodeling our house cannot quite grasp the concept of sleeping all day. He thinks it's overrated. I think he's never gotten a chance to enjoy a day of nothing but sleep. That is all.
