Election Day
Nov. 5th, 2002 11:21 amAttention all USAmericans over the age of 18: GO VOTE TODAY! If you wanna know why, read what I wrote yesterday, or read what
jrosehale wrote here. Sing it, sister!
I voted this morning; it's lovely that my polling place is literally around the corner. I can walk there in like a minute. There were a few other people there, and it was early enough that the workers were still cheerful. I also bought a couple of chocolate-chip cookies from the parent-teacher bake sale (and later had to restrain myself from eating them for breakfast).
I voted for all the Green Party candidates in Massachusetts. For most of them, I did it because I figured it wouldn't really affect the outcome but I really want a third party to start getting significant numbers. For the governor's office, on the other hand, I voted Green because I really like the candidate and am really disgusted with the way the two major-party candidates have run their campaigns. And a host of other reasons too, but you don't care, so I won't go into detail. ;) (I also wrote a love letter to the Green governor candidate, in a burst of civic pride. Heh.
Chorus rehearsal starts late tonight -- at 8pm rather than 6:30, because 8 is when the polls close. Many of our chorus members will need to vote late because they work, and many of them will have been working the polls (holding signs, etc.) as well. That's what happens when you start a choir in the most liberal city in an already very liberal state. ;)
