saying goodbye

mamajoanNot one, but two of my friends had their dogs put to sleep in the past week. :( This is really the worst part of having pets, and it's something that happens to almost every pet owner at some point (if you don't lose the pet to a car or similar, that is). Rarely will you have a harder decision to make than to have a pet euthanized. As Plaidder puts it, at no other time does doing the right thing hurt so much.
Just reading their emails about it and thinking about how they must feel is making me all teary. It must be that time of month. And it's making me think about Toes, so here's a picture:
