Stuff!!! and things! lots of things!
Feb. 15th, 2010 11:35 pmI never updated on the kids' medical stuff that I posted about a couple weeks ago. Ruthie got an official diagnosis of eczema from the nurse practitioner, and after just a few days of diligent moisturizing with Aquaphor, her hands are looking MUCH better. Yay. As for Isaac, the thing on his ankle that I thought was a suspicious mole turned out to be a very thick darkened piece of dried blood ... i.e., a scab. *Blush* Oh well. At least I figured that out in time to cancel the appointment I had made for him.
In other news!!!!! News that necessitates multiple exclamation points!!! You guys!!! ZOMG!
A week or so ago we went to the grand opening of a new branch of a local toy store. I just wanted to check it out, out of curiosity, plus I figured it would be something fun and different to occupy an hour on a Saturday. ;) While there I put my name in for a bunch of prize drawings they were having. One of the things you could enter to win was a dollhouse, and they had it set up in the display window. I honestly didn't look too closely. I just glanced and was like "oh yeah, Ruthie would like that" and put my name down.
So last Friday I get the email that we had won the dollhouse. Okay yay. So I go to the website to check it out and discover that...ZOMG you guys...the thing retails for $500!!!!! But this toy store carries it for the low low discounted price of $400!!! Did I mention ZOMG!
Here is the link if you want to check it out. It's made of all sustainable organic bamboo and water-based paint and suchlike...and if you notice in the description, it actually has a working solar panel on the top, which powers a bunch of little lights inside the house. I am not even kidding. It is crazy.
So we went and picked it up on Saturday, and Isaac helped me put it together which he greatly enjoyed. And Ruthie is in seventh heaven. She LOVES this thing. It is so awesome. It came with a whole bunch of furniture (pretty much everything you see in the picture at that link, plus more) and the five toy people that you see in the picture. Ruthie is SO into pretend play of that nature right now, so she is having a blast. She can spend hours just putting the people to bed. LOL.
Anyway, bottom line is, we won a $500 dollhouse and it is fucking awesome. ;)
Oh, and the part that really cracks me up, which occurred to me later, is that this dollhouse is now the single most valuable stealable item in my home. I mean, if a thief broke in, they would probably go straight for the Wii, because it's recognizable and easy to carry and probably pretty valuable on the black market. But that thief would walk right past the dollhouse, not realizing that it actually costs more than twice as much as the Wii. ROTFL.
(Okay, the piano is worth way more than either of those, but a thief isn't exactly going to walk out with my piano. ;) )
In other, much less exclamation-point-worthy news, I broke my glasses tonight. :( Snapped the nosepiece right in half. I'm hoping they can put the lenses into a new frame for not too terribly much money. *Sigh* Luckily I was able to find my old glasses, so I don't have to suffer the indignity of doing the scotch-tape thing in public tomorrow. Did I mention *sigh*?
