on a lighter note...
Sep. 20th, 2002 02:49 pm(I'm posting a lot today, neh? Making up for lost time I guess.)
Here's the meme that's floating around, about how you got into LJ and who your friends are, etc.
1. Your live journal "user name" & what it means: chlaal is based on the "magical name" that I chose for myself when some friends and I did the Wiccan initiation rite from Starhawk's Spiral Dance. And for the record, you pronounce it "clay-all."
2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are? I dunno. I guess it represents me as well as my general online person does overall. I probably post a lot about fandom-related stuff and give the impression that I think about it a lot more than I do. I also wish that I posted more often about the "deeper" stuff that I think about, politics and so forth.
3. How much about your life do you post to lj? I usually post a lot of "here's what I did today" type stuff, and not a lot of deep "here are the major important things happening in my life" stuff, except for on occasion when I feel a need to vent.
4. Is there anything you refuse to post about? There's certainly stuff that is too personal even for me to share on lj. I can't think of a specific example at the moment though.
5. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others? I think I'm pretty boring, actually. It's all "I went to work, I ate pasta for dinner, I petted kitties, I watched tv." Who cares??
6. From who/how did you find out about lj? I can't remember, because I started my account quite a while ago but never posted in it. It was
tiggrrl who got me to actually start using it, because she wrote me a holiday card saying "I could tell you what's up in my life, but it would be easier to just give you my livejournal URL," so I checked it out and then I was like, "hey, I have an account here, why not use it?" And it was all downhill from there.
7. Has anyone ever joined lj because of you? Yeah, at least one person has joined in order to view my friends-only posts. And I've given a code or two to nearly-random people on IRC.
8. What proportion of your posts are friends only? I'd say maybe 10%.
9. What is your favorite interest on lj? I probably use it mostly for fandom-related purposes, as well as core dumping.
10. Has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something? Probably. But I can't come up with an actual example.
11. How often do you respond/comment on other people's journals? A lot! At least a few per day. Except on weekends.
12. Do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals? Should there be an "or" in there? I like both equally, I guess. My favorite thing is getting comments on my entries. There's a reason I've changed it to say "ego-stroke."
13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)? I've gotten into some heated arguments, but nothing I'd really call a flamewar.
14. Have you ever banned someone from your journal? Not yet.
15. Who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why? I don't like playing favorites. But a lot of the folks on my friends list are fandom people (Buffy and/or Smallville) whom I sort of hero-worship, so it's always fun to read them and think "I wish I were that cool." Oh, and I LOVE the
kittypix community.
16. How many of your lj friends have you actually met? Ten-ish, which is about one-sixth of my friends-list excluding communities. There's at least one friend whom I've talked to on the phone but never met in person. And there are a few with whom I've exchanged snail-mail for various purposes (videotapes, etc.) but never met in person.
17. Of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you? Well,
xochiquetzl is my Evil Twin, so that would probably be her. *g*
18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list? If they add me, or if I know them from elsewhere (like a fandom), or if they comment on my journal. But I always check out their journal before adding.
19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first? Almost always, unless I look at their journal and it turns me off for some reason.
20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list? If they mostly talk about a fandom that I'm not involved in, or about people I don't know.
21. Is your "significant other" on lj? If I had one, I bet s/he would be!
22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj? Who hasn't? ;) I'd probably love to meet just about everyone on my friends list.
