tomorrow's plans, and kid update, etc.
Aug. 30th, 2007 04:46 pmToday I wore a dress, which I rarely do simply because I don't own many dresses that are nursing-friendly. An online pal sent me a big boxful of nursing dresses, many of which I like, but they're pretty much all on the short-ish side so I haven't been so sure about wearing them to work. But I tried one on and was like, well, it's no shorter than the shorts I've been wearing so what the hell.
Anyway, so this morning Isaac says, "mama, you look different today." I think it was his way of complimenting me. :)
Tomorrow Isaac's preschool is holding a "graduation" party, at a park, with food and a little ceremony and a "surprise guest." Since this particular preschool goes year-round, it seems maybe a little silly, but I guess it's nice to commemorate the beginning of a new school year since there are kids who will be leaving (to go to kindergarten) and new kids coming. Anyway, it should be fun. I'm taking the day off work, since the school is closed afterward. The party thing is supposed to take basically all morning anyway, and then I figure Isaac and I will have the afternoon to hang out together, maybe do some fun stuff with just us. We haven't done much with just the two of us in ages. I feel slightly guilty about leaving Ruthie in daycare, but there's no way I'm taking her to the graduation event -- I wouldn't get to see any of it if I'm chasing her the whole time -- and we'll still be able to pick her up on the early side, even if we take a couple hours for mama-and-Isaac time.
So I'm looking forward to it, more than I had really realized. I think that both Isaac and I will benefit from getting a chance to reconnect.
( general update on how the kids are doing )
It continues to astound and fascinate me how much sheer vitality a little person can have, how unique and individual they can be, and how utterly a grown-up person like myself can be in thrall. :)
In unrelated news, I took this funny "what book are you?" quiz and it told me that I am The Dictionary. LOL! Bizarre and also stunningly apropos!

You're The Dictionary!
by Merriam-Webster
You're one of those know-it-all types, with an amazing amount of knowledge at your command. People really enjoy spending time with you in very short spurts, but hanging out with you for a long time tends to bore them. When folks really need an authority to refer to, however, you're the one they seek. You're an exceptional speller and very well organized.
