We are back from our trip to Vermont. Actually, we've been back for a day and a half, but I didn't have time to post.

I missed posting Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] sandykidd yesterday, on account of, uh, not posting all day. So, happy birthday!

For everyone's entertainment I present this video of a cat attacking paper as it comes out of a printer. LOL.

Trip report here. Capsule summary: the driving sucked but the vacation itself was mucho fun, as predicted. )

And then we came home, Sunday night, and yesterday I took Isaac to preschool and Ruthie to my mom's for a bit, and I went range shopping. Did I mention that I've decided to buy a new range (stove/oven)? Well, I have. I looked at a zillion ranges in Best Buy and Sears, and came away pretty confused ;) but I'll figure it out. heh.

And today, back at work. Whee.

Oh, in book news, I finished The Crossword Obsession, which was disappointing, and started on Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell, who may be my new god.

Today's spam subject: "Meet women from home!" Yeah, because heaven forbid you should actually, like, leave the house and interact with other human beings in person! ;)

Recent funny conversations with kids:

Isaac: Ruthie, say whoa!
Ruthie: Whoa!
Isaac: Ruthie, say Isaac.
Ruthie: *babbles*
Isaac: No Ruthie, say Isaac!
Ruthie: Bye-bye ghee!
Isaac: No, we're not going anywhere, Ruthie, say mama.
Ruthie: Bye-bye ghee!
Isaac: Ruthie, say waffle.
Ruthie: *babbles*
Me: Ruthie, say antidisestablishmentarianism.
Ruthie: Bye-bye!

Isaac: Ruthie, say whoa!

Isaac: No Ruthie, whoa, say whoa.
Ruthie: *babbles*
Isaac: Ruthie, say Isaac.
Ruthie: Bye-bye!
Isaac: Ruthie, say bye-bye ghee!
Ruthie: Bye-bye!
Me: Ruthie, say 'now we see the violence inherent in the system!'
Ruthie: Whoa!

In related news, while we were in Vermont Ruthie learned to say "ding," as in the noise that the elevator makes when it arrives at a floor. Also known as the noise that the toaster makes when it's done toasting. Whenever she hears such a noise, she runs toward its source, yelling "Ding!" It is too cute. :D

Which reminds me of another one from the other day. I was supervising Isaac's frozen waffle in the toaster, and Ruthie was standing on the floor below, fussing and reaching upward. So Isaac says, "No Ruthie, you have to be 33 before you can use the toaster." hee hee.
