Ehh. I am burning out on this whole "post every minute detail of my life to LJ" thing. It's not that I don't want to; it's just that I have no time for all of it, and then I fall so far behind that I feel like I can never catch up, so I'm like, screw it. Come to think of it, it's a lot like the way I feel about cleaning my apartment.

Anyway, here are some random bullet points of note:
* The guy from the city heat program called yesterday and I have an appt to go see him on Friday and sign the paperwork and give him lots of money. (Since the city only provides up to $4500 and my work is going to cost about $2000 more than that, I have to cough up the $2000. This means another visit to the Bank of Mom, alas.)
* Had a nice although brief visit with a college friend who used to live around here but moved to the Bay Area a few years ago. Also met his new fiancee who, in a stunning display of small-world-itis, is the sister of a guy I used to work with three jobs ago.
* Ruthie is pulling herself up to stand now. Walking is just around the corner. ack!
* Isaac's latest thing when I asked him not to do something is that "a mouse" told him he had to do it. Apparently the mouse's name is Fluffy Tail and he lives on Coconut Street. Don't ask me. I just report the news.
* Have finished reading Wintersmith, Terry Pratchett's latest. Enjoyed it, although honestly it seems that pterry's plots are all starting to sound very similar.
* Mom found a box containing my high-school yearbook and other horrifying nostalgia items. My yearbook photo is even more embarrassing, I fear, than [livejournal.com profile] orbitalmechanic's. Am resisting the masochistic urge to scan them.

Also (this merits a separate paragraph, I guess), my back has really been hurting lately. My experience of back pain over the past ~8 years has been that it comes and goes often with no discernable catalyst, but at the same time, it must be acknowledged that Ruthie is getting heavier all the time and that I've been practicing pretty bad body mechanics related to holding and lifting her. So I'm trying to get better about that. I've also been doing some simple stretches just before bed, and occasionally popping a couple ibuprofen as well; both of which things seem to help. The pain is worst in the mornings when I wake up, after a night spent entwined with Ruthie and trying, apparently, not to move, even in my sleep, lest I disturb her. Generally it gets better after I get up and move around a bit...but still.

Now that the holidays are over, I'm hoping that the job market will start to pick up. I'm starting to get a little freaked out over the fact that my unemployment is going to run out soon and there are no real job prospects on the horizon. But that's a topic for another post, perhaps.

Also a topic for another post is: picspam. I have lots of it, coming soon to a flist near you.

Vitamin D

A current topic of much debate and irritation in my life is Vitamin D. Specifically, the question of whether to give Vitamin D supplements to Ruthie.

In which I go into much greater detail on this topic than you could possibly need to know, unless of course you're the parent or someday-to-be-parent of a breastfed baby under the age of one. )

Wow, that got long. O.O Bed now.
