in brief as usual
Sep. 8th, 2006 04:04 pmI am insured again. Long story short, I went through a different agency (but the same insurance company) where they charged me about half as much for the REAL state-required minimum coverage (the other agencies were, apparently, lying to me about what the minimum required by law is). The guy told me on the phone that I could pay 25% down and then the rest in installments, but when I got to his office to do the paperwork, he told me he had forgotten to mention that I would need a money order. The only way they would take a personal check was if I paid the whole thing. But it was $500 instead of $1100, so I just said "what the hell" and paid it. At least now I won't have to worry about remembering to make the payments every month.
And the guy gave me some paperwork to prove that I'm insured again, in case I get pulled over between now and when the RMV's computers will be updated, which he said should be by Wednesday. So, whew. I don't have to feel all nervous just driving around town any more.
Meanwhile, a person from the food stamp office left me a message yesterday, but she mumbled her name so I couldn't make it out. And when I called her phone number, I was told that "I'm sorry, this person's mailbox is full and cannot accept any more messages." Augh! So I called the main number, told them the extension, and they told me the person's name. And then they suggested that I call the caseworker who sits next to her, and ask him to go and tell her to clean out her mailbox. So I did that. And I tried her number again an hour or so later, and then it did let me leave her a message. YEESH, people. I know the food stamp people are probably swamped with work and totally busy and so forth, but still, YEESH.
more, as always, later.
