So, I didn't have much luck yesterday. Today I shall once again attempt to file for unemployment benefits -- this time I'll have to take Ruthie with me, but so be it. Maybe the sight of her adorable smiling face will cheer up all the poor downtrodden job-hunting souls.

On the bright side, I got a letter from the mortgage company informing me that my payments are decreasing by $20/month. Whoopee.

2 things I forgot to mention in my last post:

a. I discovered a tech writer job listing at a (small?) software company located in the same building as the company that just laid me off. So I sent off my resume. That would be kind of funny, wouldn't it? I could put the kids back in that daycare again.

b. I heard back from the HR woman and she confirmed that my paycheck from the 15th is at the office, so I can pick it up when I go to get my things. I still don't know how much that check covers -- i.e. whether they chose to pay me for the time I was in the hospital -- but I guess I'll find out.
