Dec. 2nd, 2005 01:59 pmI placed my orders on amazon and gap.com on the same day, Tuesday (three days ago). On Amazon, I ordered three packages of diapers and one of diaper wipes. On gapmaternity.com, I ordered two pairs of maternity pants on clearance.
The next day, Wednesday, Amazon emailed me to let me know that they had shipped two of the four items in my order. Today, Friday, I checked the tracking feature on amazon.com and it shows the shipped items as "out for delivery" at 2:00am today, so I expect they will arrive today and be on my doorstep when I get home. (That is, unless UPS decides that they need to be signed for, *roll eyes* in which case I expect to have a little brown slip stuck to my door.)
Meanwhile, gap.com shows my items as "pending shipment" even though they are also listed as "In stock, available to ship."
Maybe I'm just spoiled by Amazon, which, say what else you will about them, they're pretty darn efficient when they have the items in stock. But OTOH, the Gap is a major retail chain, you'd think they would have their shit together too, right? Why should it take three days to ship items that are in stock? (Yes, I realize that being a big brick-and-mortar chain doesn't necessarily say anything about the shit-together-havingness of their website, but still, yeesh.)
So, yeah, color me a not so satisfied Gap customer. Ironically, now I'm seeing this coupon on several parenting/pregnancy message boards, where you can get $15 off a $60 order at Gap Maternity. If I had had a better experience with them this week (or if I'd seen this coupon before I placed that order), I'd probably be jumping on that, but now, not so much.
