Man, did we have some thunderstorms last night!! It wasn't just that the lightning was stab-your-eyes-even-if-not-looking-directly-at-it bright. It wasn't just that the thunder was rattle-the-foundation-of-the-house strong. It wasn't just that the rain was pouring down in opaque sheets. It was all that, plus the fact that it went ON for so long!! Usually such things are very impressive for a few minutes and then taper off quickly. This one went on for, well I'm not exactly sure how long, but something like 45 minutes, maybe longer.

Unfortunately, it started just as I was lying down to sleep. *sigh* So, of course I couldn't fall asleep with that going on, so I had to lie there suffering through it, thinking with each fresh burst of thunder, "Oh, that one will definitely wake Isaac up." Flabbergastingly, though, he never did wake up! He actually slept through the whole thing. I was amazed.

(Normally I love thunderstorms and would have been happy to just lie there experiencing it ... but not on a night when I'm already sooooo tired and just want to go to sleep and it's already past midnight and I know Isaac's going to wake up at 6am. sigh.)

At one point the thunder did set off my car alarm. After turning it off, I took the little remote clicker thingie back to bed with me in case it happened again, but it didn't. (How glad am I though that my bedroom window is close enough and my clicker powerful enough that I can arm and disarm the car while lying in bed?)

Today is my first day home with Isaac. (I did mention that I took this week off work, right?) We went to sing-along hour at the library, which Isaac loved. Then we visited the playground next to the library, wandered around a bit, and came home. By that time it was lunchtime but he was so tired he wouldn't even eat. He just cried when I tried to feed him, so I gave up on lunch and took him to nurse in the rocking chair and he fell asleep in like a minute. After I finish this post I'm going to try to join him in slumberland.

At the library, we got passes for the Children's Museum for tomorrow. The pass admits 4 people and we are only two. Anyone local want to join us? We'll probably go fairly early in the morning so as to be home in plenty of time for lunch and nap.
