mamajoan: me in hammock (waaah)
I was going to do a long gripe about my crappy morning, but it would have bored even me, so I'm skipping it. To sum up: there was snow, my feet got wet, and leaky Chinese-food containers were involved.

On the bright side, I got my thyroid re-tested and my medication dose doesn't need to be changed. Wahoo.

Today's main irritation is that the "new voicemail message" light on my office phone is blinking, but when I tried to dial in and retrieve the message, it keeps telling me my password is wrong. It's bad enough I have to sit here wondering who called me and what horrendously important thing they had to say, but aside from that, I can see the light blinking out of the corner of my eye and it's driving me TOTALLY nuts. I emailed the guy in charge of such things, but he hasn't seen fit to reply yet. Augh!!!!!!!!! *tears out hair*

I got the IT guy to reset the password so I could retrieve my voicemail. And then it was a totally stupid useless thing. (It was from a guy at the bank where I just wrote to cancel my account. He left messages on both my phones the other day wanting to know why I canceled. I already talked to him yesterday.) Ah well. At least it's not blinking at me any more.

And in conclusion, just to finish off your Friday, I give you this picture of Isaac eating applesauce with a fork.
(Edit: Despite how it might look, he isn't making an expression of disgust. He loves applesauce. I just happened to snap the picture when he was in the midst of deep concentration on his food.)

mamajoan: me in hammock (wtf)
In "The Rainbow Connection," Kermit sings, "Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what's on the other side?" But the only songs about rainbows that I can think of are "The Rainbow Connection" and "Over the Rainbow." That's not so many. Are there others that I don't know about?

Similarly, in "Over the Rainbow," Dorothy sings, "...there's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby." Again with the rainbow songs referencing other rainbow songs. Is there really a lullaby that talks about a land over the rainbow, other than "Over the Rainbow"? (Which isn't exactly a lullaby, but it does seem to make Isaac sleepy when I sing it, or maybe that's just because I sing it while I'm putting on his pj's.)

So what is it about rainbow songs being all meta and talking about other rainbow songs that don't exist? 'Sup with that? Discuss.
