not really
Jan. 3rd, 2005 05:17 pmOf course I am not really actually dead. But man, was I tired after that party. Dude.
Here's a look at all the cookies that remained in my household after lots of them got eaten during the party and lots more got taken home by the attendees: ( Picture ) I estimated it at about six dozen left for me, which sounds like a lot, but is in fact a very small fraction of the total number of cookies that got made. And anyway some of them are small, so it's misleading. Heck, you can't even see any of the penises in that picture! I used an entire 5-pound bag of flour plus a significant portion of a second bag. And a pound of butter and most of a bag of sugar, but oddly enough only six eggs. (The gingerbread didn't require them. I ended up making the gingerbread recipe from Joy of Cooking rather than the one
skreeky posted a couple weeks ago, because hers was too complicated and I didn't have the energy.)
Anyway, much fun was had by all and Isaac learned how to say "more cookie please." And today I took two of the four plates of cookies to the office so my coworkers could enjoy the largesse.
In other news, I am poor. :( After paying the bills I have to pay before my next paycheck on the 14th, I'll be left with about $70. I know that $70 for less than two weeks probably sounds like a lot to some of you! But to me it's frighteningly little. :( I can dip into my money-market account if I have to, but its balance is right at $500, and if it goes under $500 they charge me a $5/month fee. I hate the idea of having to pay a fee for the privilege of having money. :P I could pay less than the entire amount I owe on my credit card, but then I have to pay interest and that irks me too. I almost never carry a balance on my credit card.
I have a few dinky little checks from the various online survey places. I should go deposit those. At least it's something. *sigh*
I can't wait for all my tax paperwork to come in. I'm estimating I'll get over $3000 in tax refund from the feds alone, and the state should be a good chunk too. The sooner I get my hands on that, the better.
