(I feel much much better after having gotten lots of sleep last night. Yay. I'm still fighting this cold, but I'd much rather have a headful of phlegm than still be barfing and diarrhea-ing.)
So the other day my mom says to me, "have you thought about what you want to do for your birthday?" And, well, no, I haven't. This is very unusual for me; usually I start getting excited about my birthday like two months in advance. But this year, with everything that's been going on with the house and all, the birthday has barely even been on my radar screen.
I'm turning 30 three weeks from today. But you know, last year I threw myself a big party, and even though it wasn't the big-number birthday, I was telling myself that it was going to be my big-party birthday, because it was my last birthday as a free unfettered childless single person. So I told myself I wouldn't even bother to make a big deal out of this year's birthday, despite being the big three-oh, because I figured by now it would be all about the baby. (And that was before I even knew that I would be in the throes of buying a house!) I mean, how much does the number really matter, after all? The big things I've done this year -- having a baby, buying a house -- are more important than the number.
But then, that doesn't mean I can't celebrate at all. ;) And I've always liked to make a fuss over myself for my birthday. So it's time to start thinking about what I'd like to do. I'm thinking of finally getting that tattoo I keep talking about, the one that commemorates Isaac's birth. Or maybe I'll leave Isaac with my mom and go do something fun, the exact details of which remain fuzzy. Or maybe I'll just invite a bunch of friends over to hang out. Or maybe I'll just buy myself a bunch of chocolate or something. Oh, who knows? Something to ponder. :)
