Isaac Update
Oct. 17th, 2003 02:00 pmIsaac had his 4-month checkup today. He weighs a whopping 15 pounds 13.5 ounces -- up approx. 4.25 pounds from his 2-month checkup. He is now between the 50th and 75th percentiles for weight (and has almost tripled his birth weight!). His length is 24.75 inches and his head circumference is 42 centimeters (why they use metric for some measures and not for others, don't ask me).
He's generally in good health, of course. He cried a lot when the pediatrician had to clean a bunch of wax out of his ears so she could look in them. He also cried when he got his shots (four!). The first one was fine; he was kind of like, "hmm, what was that?" but then the second one he definitely didn't like, the third one got him screaming for real, and for the fourth one we had to hold him pretty firmly. :(
He continued crying for a while afterward, and the ped gave me the use of her office to nurse him. He didn't really want to nurse, though, so I just walked him around until he was calmer, and then we left. He fell asleep in the car, woke up when I took him into the apartment, wanted to nurse then and fell asleep again. And now he's awake, seeming pretty cheerful, sucking on his hands and all.
He wore his Red Sox outfit (actually he has been wearing it since last night's game, snif) and everyone in the ped's office commented on it. But then we were upstaged by a lady arriving with her teeny triplets! Man, did she ever look worn out. I am so glad I only had one. ;)
So, in short, Isaac is doing great, developmentally speaking.
In other news, apparently Isaac and I are going to Arizona next month to visit Isaac's uncle and aunt
sandykidd. My mom will be there too and will fly back with us (long story). That should be interesting. Isaac will be a lot older than he was the last time we took a plane flight, so I imagine it'll be a whole different experience. Hopefully I'll survive it. ;)
