Happy birthday to
seperis. You know, it suddenly occurred to me how damn many Jennifers I'm in contact with these days. There's
seperis and
bonibaru and
jenwrites, and that's just the ones who have LJs off the top of my head. And then people say stuff to me like, "don't name your baby Jennifer" and I'm all, "as IF!!!" No offense to any of the Jennifers, but no WAY am I giving my kid a name that's already that common. What, you don't think I remember being in elementary school and having four Jennifers and four Sarahs in every class? (Also four Jasons, and is anyone surprised that the most popular unusual-baby-name book is titled Beyond Jennifer and Jason?)
But I digress. I sense a theme. My entries lately have been awfully ramble-y, haven't they? And you shoulda seen the one I wrote last night and decided NOT to post. Heh.
My weekend:
Saturday: Up way early. Drove to casino with three friends (including, yes, one Jennifer). Wound up losing about $30 on the whole day, which I consider a success. Hey, that's the cost of dinner and a movie, and this lasted longer! One friend did very well, which was nice because it was sort of her birthday trip. Returned home in early evening, spent rest of evening staring blankly at TV.
Sunday: Got up leisurely, went to mom's, did laundry, entertained kitties. Watched Super Bowl ads. Went to bookstore just as it was closing (10pm). Went home. Stared blankly at TV. Went to bed.
I am so far behind on my TV-viewing, it's scary. I'm behind by, let's see, two "Angel"s, two "Farscape"s, one "Smallville," one "West Wing," and the "Firefly" two-hour not-really-pilot. At least I finally watched the SNL with Al Gore from December. (And now I see they're rerunning it this coming weekend. Story of my life.) The bit with the "West Wing" cast was the funniest part.
For some inexplicable reason, Windows Media Player has decided that Disc 4 of my 4-disc set of Glenn Gould playing the Bach Well-Tempered Klavier, is actually an album called "This Year's Model" by Elvis Costello. It's the most bizarre thing. You click on what it claims is a song called "You Belong To Me," and what you actually get is fugue #15 in G Major, BWV 884. I mean, seriously, wtf???
