on being cold
Jan. 13th, 2003 10:34 amRecently I've bitched here several times about how much I hate being cold. And now, in honor of the facts that a) tomorrow's projected *high* is 18F and b) I finally got around to buying a space-heater, here are one good thing and one bad thing about cold weather.
Good: Cold weather means wearing a coat, which means always having pockets, which means having somewhere to keep your wallet, which means not having to carry a purse. Not that I'm completely against carrying a purse, but it does get unwieldy, and I do tend to toss a lot of stuff in there on the "what if" principle (you know, "what if I cut myself? bandaid. what if I break my glasses? contact lenses. what if I get my period unexpectedly? tampons. what if I get attacked? brick...") until my purse weighs a ton. Also, carrying a purse makes me feel adult in the bad way: matronly, responsible (the horror!), uncool. Although, I recently got a new purse that's cute and stylish, unlike my old one which is functional and, well, matronly. Plus the new one is smaller in a conscious effort to thwart the "what if" effect. So it's not as bad any more.
Uh, but I digress. The point being: carrying purse bad, pockets for wallet good.
Bad: One of the absolute worst things about cold weather is when it comes time for bed, and you have to undress, and your hands are icy cold, and you have to take off your bra. Oh yeah. Every chick reading this knows what I'm talking about, yo. Even the ones who've lived in Bermuda all their lucky-little-bitch-don't-talk-to-me lives. ;) And guys think having tits is all fun and games. Hah!
