A class-action lawsuit is under way against the music industry, on behalf of all American music-buying consumers. If you live in the USA and you bought a CD, tape, or record from a retailer between 1995 and 2000, you are probably eligible to be a claimant on the lawsuit. You can sign up here: www.musiccdsettlement.com

The amount that each claimant will receive will depend on how many people sign up, but is estimated to be between $5 and $20. If the settlement terms are accepted you'll get a check in a few months. But if it turns out that there are so many claimants that each person would receive less than $5, they won't disburse any money to claimants; it will all go to charities and non-profit organizations related to music.

So, either you get some free cash, or the music industry has to fund choirs and symphonies and libraries and public radio stations! There is no bad here. ;)

So, with 29 people responding to my poll, Thin Mints are the favorite Girl Scout cookie by a landslide. Yay! Fear the power of the Thin Mint! ;)
