The landlord came over and pronounced my oven in fine shape and said I should feel free to use it without worrying. So I shall. I meant to bake pumpkin bread today but haven't gotten to it yet and it's already after 10 so I really shouldn't start now. I have GOT to get to bed a little earlier, after staying up till 3 or 4 AM the past three nights.

My mom cut out an article from the Boston Globe about Glenn Gould's recordings of the Bach Goldberg Variations. Gould recorded this piece twice, once in the 1950s that catapulted him to fame, and once just a short while before his death. Of course the question of which version is better, is hotly debated all over the place. Apparently some label is releasing a CD set with both versions. I wouldn't mind getting ahold of a copy of the later version -- I really love the original 50s version but it would be interesting to compare.

I'm still feeling insecure about the e-minor fugue, but I realize it's silly. It's like someone who only played a bit of Little League as a kid being jealous of Barry Bonds. I'll master the fugue at some point, or at least learn it ;), and if I never play it as fast as Gould does, so what? Johann Sebastian doesn't care either.

Oh, and in case I haven't mentioned lately, my new computer rocks. :)
